Unicel C-7496 – 105 sq ft Replacement Cartridge Filter
Product Overview
The Unicel C-7496 is a high-capacity, premium replacement cartridge filter designed for select pool and spa filter systems that originally used 105 sq ft cartridge elements. It delivers improved filtration, easy servicing, and long life in chemically treated water.
Key Features
- 105 sq ft pleated filtration area to capture fine debris and improve water clarity.
- Durable construction with molded end-caps and double-sealed pleat pack for reliable performance.
- Fits many filter housings compatible with the original C-7496 designation.
- Easy drop-in replacement—no tools required to install in most filter tanks.
Technical Specifications
- Part Number: C-7496
- Media Area: 105 sq ft
- Typical Dimensions: Approximately 7″ diameter × 25 5/8″ length (verify specific model)
- Open End-Style: Open top and open bottom configuration for maximum flow.
Applications & Compatibility
This cartridge filter is ideal for owners of pool or spa filter systems originally equipped with a 105 sq ft element identified by part-number C-7496 or compatible equivalents. Before ordering, measure your existing cartridge’s diameter, length and hole size to ensure a proper fit.
Installation Instructions
- Turn off the pump and isolate the filter system before opening the vessel.
- Relieve internal pressure, then remove the filter lid or clamp and take out the old cartridge.
- Inspect the filter tank for debris, rinse the interior, and verify sealing surfaces are clean.
- Install the new C-7496 cartridge, seat it properly in the tank base or manifold, and reinstall the lid/clamp with the gasket or O-ring in good condition.
- Start the pump and monitor the pressure gauge—expect an initial pressure spike that settles within a short time of operation.
Troubleshooting
- High filter pressure right after install: Check for closed return valves, clogged plumbing or a partially blocked cartridge.
- Low flow or dirty water after install: Confirm correct cartridge orientation, inspect the pleats for damage, and ensure manifold or tank lid is sealed properly.
- Leaks at filter lid or clamp: Ensure the O-ring/gasket is intact and fully seated—the cartridge alone cannot correct sealing issues.
Maintenance Tip
Rinse the cartridge regularly to remove surface debris, clean with mild filter cleaner periodically, and replace when the pleats become flattened or damaged. Using a proper replacement like the C-7496 helps maintain optimal filtration and extends the life of your pool or spa filter system.
